My name is Dave Cogburn and I’ve been a regular customer at The String Bean Restaurant for over 20 years. It is without a doubt my favorite restaurant. I am taking a copywriting course and my first assignment was to write a piece about my favorite restaurant and this is the result. This came as a complete surprise to Debbi, the owner, and my desire is to share with you my thoughts of what makes The String Bean a restaurant that you, too, will want to enjoy on a regular basis for years to come.
The String Bean
Just Another Country Style Restaurant? Not Hardly!!!
Let’s face it. In our neighborhood there are many restaurants to choose from. What makes The String Bean different?
For one thing, owners Debbi and Joe know that their commitment to excellence can best be served by giving their personal undivided time and attention to ONE location. Thus, in the world of cookie cutter restaurants, The String Bean is unique and noticeably different. Come two or three times and you will meet Debbie - no doubt about it - as she attempts to get to know everyone who comes. To her you are not a customer – you are family and she makes you will feel that way quickly.
With its cozy soft-light atmosphere with alcoves and private areas, it serves all of your favorite home cooked family recipes that grandma used to make. My personal favorite is their pot roast. It’s so good it might make it difficult to want to try anything else but once you do, you will now know the definition of dilemma.
Debbie also knows many restaurants give us more food than we can eat and charge us more than we would like, so she offers a slightly smaller portion of many of her main entrees called a Beanette plate, which is just the right amount for just the right price.
Anyone for desserts? Oh, my gosh, wait till you taste Debbie’s home made ice cream with different toppings or on top of your favorite cobbler. But in the dessert department there is a pis de resistance (Debbie, check spelling) – their ice box coconut cream pie. You will swear it was made in heaven with its swirling layers of whipping cream and a flavor that has your taste buds yelling for more.
For those who enjoy libations, there is a separate bar area with your favorite drinks including many wonderful ice cream drinks that are D-elicious with a capital D.
We know you and your family will enjoy your dining experience and will look forward to many visits to come. Oh, and don’t forget to ask to meet Chef Ron, the creator of many of these wonderful recipes. He simply thrives on “compliments to the chef”.
